Thank you for such a great web-site. I have a "no-name" pentacon
that I wanted to know more about, and now most of my questions have been answered. Its a great camera.
Got it for $20 at a flea market, and replaced the shutter curtians and general clean-up, lubrication,and it works fine. Once again Danke!

Herzlichen Glückwunsch zu dieser tollen Seite. Auch wenn Viele "Profis" auf Praktica (Pentacon) etwas herabschauen, so hat diese Firma mit ihren günstigen innovativen und häufig qualitativ hochstehenden Kameras doch einen tollen Beitrag zu Verbreitung der Fotografie in Deutschland geleistet.
Sehr ähnlich wie auch mein "Lieblings-Unternehmen" PHOTO PORST, "das (ehemals) größte Photohaus der Welt", das ja auch viele Praktica Kameras unter eigenem Namen vertrieben hat. Mehr dazu - und viele Kamera-Beschreibungen auf meiner homepage: www.kamera-geschichte.de

Hi,Lots of interesting information here! I just found a good Praktica Mat that seems to be in full working order, two lenses and all. There's just one small detail - the rewinding handle is missing; broken I guess. Is it possible to find parts like this? And if so, can this be fixed without special equipment? (It's ok to answer in Deutsch; ich kann dass gut verstehen.)

Hallo Mike,
schön das es noch Menschen gibt, die sich auf das Wesentliche konzentrieren können - prima Seite.Meine Praktika-MAT hat mir treu gedient. Leider gibt sie nach 34 Jahren den Geist in Form von Belichtungsmessung und Zählwerk auf (Unfall).
Kannst Du mir eine Praktika so ab Baujahr 1984 empfehlen. Sie sollte schon Zeitautomatik und Doppelbelichtungsfunktion haben.
Metallgehäuse wäre auch nicht schlecht. Gruß Henryk PS. Suche einen Belichtungsmesser für Contax-FB

Today the firm exists again. Since recently they produce bigger compact digicams, for example the Luxmedia product line (praktica.de), also for other brands like Polaroid which is cooperating with Sigma´s X3 Foveon technology. Regarding other products it is hard to tell who produces what, they are also cooperating with many other firms. They are now again owner of the Exakta brand but the Exakta ultra tele lenses are still produced by an Asian producer which has not so good reputation.
